EXTENDED WALK 5th December, 2022

 

The next extended walk is on Monday 5th December, 2022 which will be a

circular walk from Filston Road car park Shoreham, see attached map of the

route.  The car park is not large so car sharing is advised.

 

The lunch stop will be at The Crown Pub, 84, High Street, Shoreham, TN14 7TJ, Tel:01959-522903.

 

Attached to this email is the menu and the pub has requested

that we advise them of orders during the week before.  If you are

stopping for lunch please can you advise Bob, by Tuesday 29th November evening what your orders are.  Bobs email address is

The walk will start at 9:30 am and will be led by Bob Brickell.

 

The total walk distance is 7.77 miles.

 

Directions: There are many short cuts but the simplest route from Swanley is

to take the B2173 London Road out of Swanley to Junction 3, M25 and take the

A20 onto London Road towards Farningham and at the second roundabout take

the second exit towards West Kingsdown and take the first right onto

Eynsford Road, A225. Follow the A225 through Eynsford and at Shoreham

Station turn right into Station Road, through the village and at the T

junction turn left into Filston Road. The free car park is on the left.

 

 

 

EXTENDED WALK 7th November, 2022

 

 

The next extended walk is on Monday 7th November, 2022 which will be a circular walk from The Chequers at Darenth, Darenth Road South, Dartford DA2 7QT. We are able to use the pub car park, but it would help if we could car share where possible. If you are not stopping for lunch please park in the road.

 

The lunch stop will be at The Chequers.

 

Attached to this email is the menu and the pub has requested that we advise them of orders during the week before so, if you can advise Bob, by Wednesday 2nd November what your orders are.  

 

We will aim to be back at the chequers by 1:15 pm for lunch.

 

This will be an historical walk along the river Darent and Bob will provide information about the Roman and Saxon occupation and point out buildings of interest along the route including the paper mills. He last did this walk in January 2017.

DirectionsThere are many short cuts but the simplest route from Swanley is to take the B2173 London Road out of Swanley to Junction 3, M25 and take the A20 onto London Road towards Farningham and at the second roundabout take the first exit onto the A225 heading towards Dartford. At Sutton at Hone mini roundabout turn right into Parsonage Lane and left into Darenth Road South, The Chequers is on the left. Darenth Road South used go through to Dartford but was blocked off by the M25 construction so, don’t end up on Darenth Road coming from Dartford end.

The next All Day walk is on Monday 3rd October, 2022 which will be a new circular walk from The Queens Head, Downe, Kent, BR6 7US via Cudham returning to Downe. We are able to use the pub car park, but it would help if we could car share where possible.

 

The lunch stop will be at The Queens Head (www.queensheaddowne.com) I am waiting for the Autumn Menu which I hope to obtain from them prior to our walk. We will aim to be there by 1:30 pm for lunch.

 

Please arrive by 9:30am so lunch orders can be taken and dropped in at the pub before we leave.

 

The walk will start at 9:45-10.00am and be led by Barry Everitt.

 

The total walk distance is 7.2 miles

 

DirectionsFrom Swanley take the B2173 London Road out of Swanley to Junction 3, M25 and head south coming off at Junction 4 onto the A21 towards Orpington, at the 3rd roundabout take the first exit onto the B2158 for Farnborough Village and turn immediately first left into Shire Lane at the mini roundabout. Take the 4th turning on the left into High Elms Road, continue and at the T-junction with Cudham Road turn right and continue into the High Street The Queens Head is on the right hand side.

 

 

 

ALL DAY WALK 5th September, 2022

 

The next All Day walk is on Monday 5th September, 2022 which will be a circular walk from The Blue Anchor, Grange Road, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN15 8ND.

 

We are able to use the pubs car park which is around the back in Long Mill Lane, but it would help if we could car share where possible. The pub has sent me their current menu a copy of which can be found in the members section with the walk map. They have requested that they have pre-orders by 2nd September 2022. Would you please therefore email Bob Brickell with your orders on or prior to 1st September 2022. He is finding that a lot of venues are now asking for pre orders. If you have particular dietary requirements, then please contact the pub by telephone on 01732 885498 but do let Bob know what you want to order.

 

We will aim to be back at the Blue Anchor by 1:30 pm for lunch.

The total walk distance is 7.6 miles and is a circular walk from and back to the pub. This is a departure from our figure of eight walks as some members feel that a total 9-10 mile walk is too much for them now, especially after having had lunch!

 

DirectionsFrom Swanley take the B2173 London Road out of Swanley to Junction 1, M20 and head east coming off at Junction 2 onto the A20 and head to towards Wrotham Heath, turn right onto the A25 and head towards Borough Green. Grange Road is the second Road on the left after crossing the railway line. When you reach the Blues Anchor pub go past and turn sharp right into Long Mill Lane. The car park is on the right behind the pub.

 

 

 

ALL DAY WALK 11h July, 2022

 

The next All Day walk is on Monday 11th July, 2022 which will be a figure of eight walk from The Three Horseshoes, Main Road, Knockholt, Kent, TN14 7LD.

 

We are able to use the pubs car park, but it would help if we could car share where possible, The pub has asked if we could park at the front were possible. The pub has a Wake on the same day so we may have to eat in the Garden which has a covered seating area which should be fine for this time of year. See typical menu on website (www.threthreehorseshoesknockholt.com). I will obtain that Monday’s menu from them prior to our walk. We will aim to be there by 1:00 pm for lunch.

The total walk distance is 9.3 miles. The walk is a figure of 8 and the morning walk is 5.1 miles and afternoon walk 4.2 miles.

 

Directions: From Swanley take the B2173 London Road out of Swanley to Junction 3, M25 and head south coming off at Junction 4 onto the A21 towards Green Street Green, at the 1st  roundabout take the first exit onto Rushmore Hill and continue through Pratts Bottom and past Cooling’s Garden Centre and turn right into Main Road were it joins with Halstead Lane. The Three Horseshoes is on the left as you continue along Main Road.

 

ALL DAY WALK 16th May, 2022

 

The next All Day walk is on Monday 16th May, 2022 which will be a figure of 8 starting from the White Rock Inn in Underriver, TN15 0SB. We are able to use the pubs car park. The lunch stop will be at The White Rock Inn ( https://www.thewhiterockinn.co.uk/ ). see typical Menu on website. We will aim to be there by 1:00 pm for lunch.

 

Please arrive by 9:30am so lunch orders can be taken and dropped in at the pub before we leave.

 

The walk will start at 10.00am and be led by Bob Brickell.

 

The total walk distance is 9.72 miles. The walk is a figure of 8 and the morning walk is 5.9 miles and afternoon walk 3.82 miles.

 

The morning walk will go pass Kettles Farm onto the Greensands Way and through Knole Park to Godden Green, from here the walk will go through woods to Fawke Farm and onto One Tree Hill before descending down the hill to Underriver. Distance 5.9 miles.

 

The afternoon walk will start at 2.15pm approx. and go via Underriver House to Budd’s Green then onto Budd’s Dell and the Greensands Way for a short distance before dropping own to Absalom’s Farm and back to Underriver. Distance 3.82 miles.

 

DirectionsFrom Eynsford, Crockenhill, Orpington or Swanley, join the M25 going South and continue onto the A21 to the turn off for Hildenborough. Take the 2nd exit  (B245). Just pass the Teal Café (righthand side of road), you will see a sign for the White Rock turn left into Mill Lane and continue along the road until you reach Underriver, the White Rock is on the righthand side.

 

 

ALL DAY WALK 4th April, 2022

 

The next All Day walk is on Monday 4th April, 2022 which will be a figure of eight walk from The Golden Lion, Luddesdown, Kent, DA13 0XE. We are able to use the pubs car park. The lunch stop will be at The Golden Lion (www.thegoldenlionpub.uksee typical Menu on website. We will aim to be there by 1:00 pm for lunch.

 

Please arrive by 9:30am so lunch orders can be taken and dropped in at the pub before we leave.

 

The walk will start at 10.00am and be led by Bob Brickell.

 

The total walk distance is 8.62 miles. The walk is a figure of 8 and the morning walk is 5 miles and afternoon walk 3.62 miles.

 

This is one of Bob’s favourite walks through an area of outstanding natural beauty. The morning walk will be via Henley Down and wood through to Dilmer wood and onto Great Buckland where we will take the Wealdway back to Luddesdown for lunch.

 

The afternoon walk, for those that wish, will be via Bushy and Halling Wood, Rochester Wood and the Bowling Alley (not literally) back to Luddesdown.

 

DirectionsFrom Swanley take the B2173 London Road out of Swanley to Junction 3, M25 and head North coming off at M25, Junction 2 onto the A2 east, at the exit for Shorne Woods Country Park turn left onto Brewers Road at the roundabout take the first exit into Halfpence Lane.  At Cobham carry straight on into Cobhambury Road and at the end of this road turn right into Luddesdown Road and follow the road through to The golden Lion.

 

 

 

ALL DAY WALK 28th February, 2022

 

We were not able to book the 7th March so the next All Day walk is on Monday 28th February, 2022 which will be a figure of eight walk from The Queens Head, Downe, Kent, BR6 7US. We are able to use the pubs car park, but it would help if we could car share where possible. The lunch stop will be at The Queens Head (www.queensheaddowne.comsee typical Menu on website. I will obtain that Monday’s menu from them prior to our walk. We will aim to be there by 1:00 pm for lunch.

The walk will start at 10.00am and be led by Bob Brickell.

 

The total walk distance is 9.2 miles. The walk is a figure of 8 and the morning walk is 5.8 miles and afternoon walk 3.4 miles.

 

The morning walk will be via Down House and Downe Court, Snotsdale Wood, West Kent Golf club and Holmewood Farm.

The afternoon walk, for those that wish, will be via Farthing Street, part of the London loop path, North End Farm and Cuckoo Wood.

 

Directions: From Swanley take the B2173 London Road out of Swanley to Junction 3, M25 and head south coming off at Junction 4 onto the A21 towards Orpington, at the 3rd roundabout take the first exit onto the B2158 and turn first left into Shire Lane. Take the 4th turning on the left into High Elms Road, continue  and at the tee junction with Cudham Road turn right and continue into the High Street The Queens Head is on the right hand side.

 

 

 

ALL DAY WALK 7th February, 2022

 

The next All Day walk is on Monday 7th February, 2022 which will be a figure of eight walk from The Sydney Arms, Old Perry Street, Chislehurst, Kent, BR7 6PL  

 

There is a public car park just along the road on the left coming from the A20 end of Perry St.. The lunch stop will be at The Sydney Arms (http://www.sydneyarms.com)

See Menu on website. We will aim to be there by 1:00 pm.  

 

Please arrive by 9:30am so lunch orders can be taken and phoned through to the pub.

 

The walk will start at 10.00am and be led by Bob Brickell.

 

The total walk distance is 9.7 miles. The walk is a figure of 8 and the morning walk is 6.5 miles and afternoon walk 3.2 miles.

 

The morning walk will take in Idehouse Wood, Petts Wood, Chislehurst Common and Ashen Grove back to Old Perry Street.

The afternoon walk, for those that wish, will be via Park Wood and Scadbury Park back to Old Perry Street.

 

Directions: From Swanley take the B2173 London Road out of Swanley towards London and take the slip road past Birchwood Road onto the A20 at the second exit turn left onto Perry Street and then left again into Old Perry Street. The Sidney Arms is on the right and Scadbury Park car park is just along on the left where we will set off from. There is parking available in Old Perry Street as well.
