2021 Walk Details

6th December, 2021

 

The next All Day walk is on Monday 6th December, 2021 which will be a figure of eight walk from The Ship Inn, 14, The Street, Cobham, Kent DA12 3BN  The car park is available for us to use for the day. The lunch stop will be at The Ship Inn (Ship Inn pub in Cobham | Greene King Local Pubs (greeneking-pubs.co.uk) We will aim to be there at 1:00 pm.

 

 

Please arrive by 9:45am so lunch orders can be taken and phoned through to the pub.

 

 

The walk will start at 10.00am and be led by Bob Brickell.

 

 

The total walk distance is 9.52 miles. The walk is a figure of 8 and the morning walk is 5.95 miles and afternoon walk 3.57 miles.

 

 

The morning walk will follow Lodge Lane into Cobham Park through the Great Wood returning via Birch Wood and Nor Wood via Lodge Lane to the Ship Inn for lunch. There should be good views across to the river Medway at this time of year.

The afternoon walk, for those that wish, will be via Cobham College, Jeskyns Court and Ashenbank Wood back to the Ship Inn.

 

 

DirectionsFrom Swanley take the M25 at junction 3 to junction 2 then the A2 towards M2/Canterbury. Follow the A2 to the exit for Shorne, turn left onto Brewers Road, then take the first exit at the roundabout into Halfpence Lane and down to The Street into Cobham. For Satnav users the post code for the Ship Inn is DA12 3BN.

 

 

1st November 2021

 

The next All Day walk is on Monday 1st November  2021 which will be a circular walk from Filston Lane Car Park in Shoreham, TN14 7SP  The car park is free but not large, so car share if possible. The lunch stop will be at The Bricklayers Arms TN13 2RZ (THE BRICKLAYERS ARMS (the-bricklayers-arms.co.uk)  We will aim to be there at 1:30 pm.

 

Please arrive by 9:15am so lunch orders can be taken and phoned through to the pub.

 

The walk will start at 9.30am and be led by Bob Brickell.

 

The walk is part of a series of walks along the Darent Valley between the Thames and Chipstead lakes that Bob has done before and will include information on some of the properties and sites along the way, based upon information included in Rod Shelton’s book of the Darent Valley.

 

The total walk distance is 9.85 miles and distance to the Bricklayers Arms is 5.8 miles. Those who do not wish to walk the whole distance could car share by leaving a car at Chipstead and driving back to Filston Lane car park in the other ready to start the walk.

 

The walk will follow Water Lane to pick up the Darent Valley Path down through Otford to Dunton Green where we will skirt the edge of the Sevenoaks Wildfowl Reserve, through Riverhead and onto Chipstead lake.

The return will be via the alternative Darent Valley path following the edge of the lake through to Twitton, Filston Hall and back to Filston Lane car Park. See map attached.

 

DirectionsFrom Swanley take the A20 London Road down to Farningham roundabout, take the second exit onto Main Road and the turn first right onto Eynsford Road, continue on the A225 to Shoreham and turn right into Station Road, continue through the village to the tee junction and turn left into Filston Lane, then first left into the car park, TN14 7SP.

 

                                                                                          

4th October 2021

The next All Day walk is on Monday 4th October  2021 which will be a figure of 8 starting from the Malt Shovel (themaltshoveleynsford.co.uk) in Eynsford.

 

We have permission to use the car park.

 

Please arrive by 9:10am so lunch orders can be taken and left with the pub.

 

The walk will start at 9.30am and be led by Bob Brickell.

 

The walk is part of a series of walks along the Darenth Valley between the Thames and Chipstead lakes that Bob has done before and will include information on some of the properties and sites along the way, based upon information included in Rod Shelton’s book of the Darenth Valley.

 

The morning walk will go via Upper Austin Lodge, where we should now be able to view the Percy Pilture memorial, up over Preston Hill and down into Shoreham where we will follow the Dareth Valley Path back to Eynsford. Distance 7.1 miles.  We aim to be back for lunch at 1:15 pm which should allow for frequent information stops along the way.

 

The afternoon walk will start at 2:30pm approx. and go via Sparepenny Lane footpath, through Farningham village and back to Eynsford. Distance 2.7 miles.

 

DirectionsFrom Swanley take the A20 London Road down to Farningham roundabout, take the second exit onto Main Road and the turn first right onto Eynsford Road, past the Church on the left, the Malt Shovel is on left with the car park opposite – we have permission to use the pub car park
