Would you please let Bob know if you would like to go on this walk as soon as possible. Bob’s email address is robertbrickell50@gmail.com
The total walk distance is 4.5 miles but you will be on your feet for a long time with frequent stops
along the way.
The walk will take in the properties along Cheyne Walk and Bob will point out some of the famous and infamous people that have lived there. We will walk past the sites of Henry VIII’s Manor House and
Sir Thomas More’s grander home. We will see the only example of a medieval merchant house in London. Chelsea Old Church will be closed when we pass by, as it does not open until 2pm, but Battersea
Old Church should be open. Bob will give information on the histories of Battersea, Albert and Chelsea bridges along the route. There will be a shorter route through Battersea Park this time and we
will finish up at Battersea Power Station again.
Travelling Arrangements:
If you have a bus pass then just buy an off-peak return to Victoria, If you do not, then buy a one-day travel card to London, which will allow you to travel on the bus. If you do not have a rail card (which gives 1/3 off the ticket price), remember that a group of 3 or more can travel together to get a 1/3 off the ticket price. The ticket office at Swanley has been quite good in the pass allowing people to pay individually in the group providing you are in a continuous queue. If you have an Oyster card you may prefer to tap in and out, especially if you have it linked to a rail card.
Please let Bob know if would like to be part of a group, but do arrive early at the station.
